How Your Home Gets Sold

“We look at every property as unique. How do I tell that story?”

Alec Cantley

What we do

Alec represents distinctive homes across Western North Carolina. Most of that work is above a million dollars, in places like Biltmore Forest, Reynolds Mountain, South Asheville and Mills River.

Track record

More than $250 million in total sales and the top 1.5% of agents nationally (RealTrends Verified, 2026), with the Sotheby’s International Realty network behind every listing.

Every listing

How we market every listing

We go above and beyond on each one.

It starts with your home, not a spreadsheet. Alec grew up on his father’s job sites, and he walks a property with a builder’s eye for framing and finishes. He leaves with the list of what needs attention before a single photo is taken.

  1. 01

    Strategic pricing and positioning

The market is price dependent, so the price is the most important decision we make together. Alec meets you and sees the home first, then factors it all in: what is selling now in your community, and how Asheville fits into the national picture. You get a pricing range and a plan. If he can’t stand behind a number, he will tell you. A view estate on Town Mountain, a historic address in Biltmore Forest and a farm in Mills River are positioned differently, because they are for different buyers.

  2. 02

    Staging and preparation

Staging, plus vendors for fix-ups and cleanups before the first photo.

  3. 03

    Media development

Every property gets its own story. Professional photography, drone and curated videography. An appraiser develops custom floor plans for every listing. 3D Matterport tours. For most listings, a custom website that all of the marketing points to.

Alec goes above and beyond for the best presentation of the property, whatever that looks like.

  4. 04

    Marketing

The launch is specific to the property. Each home gets a custom launch plan: coming soon, firm exclusive, and the other levers, chosen to create as much excitement and attention as possible.

Digital and traditional marketing, with social media content from Instagram reels to full-length YouTube features. Every listing also goes out through a network built over years: other brokers, the Sotheby’s network and our local contacts.

  5. 05

    PR

Premier Sotheby’s has its own in-house PR department. The team explores press opportunities for each property, reaching audiences on both coasts.

Alec runs the negotiation. The team keeps every date and document on the way to the closing table.

The investment

When Alec takes a listing, he invests in it too.

Alec invests heavily in the marketing of every home he represents: the photography, the film, the staging, the advertising.

Standard of care

New Gunston Hall

New Gunston Hall, a brick Colonial Revival estate in Biltmore Forest

New Gunston Hall, a Biltmore Forest estate on the National Register of Historic Places, is a perfect example of our standard of care. Its press came through Premier Sotheby’s in-house PR department, with Alec and the team following through, and included national coverage on realtor.com. Press coverage varies from home to home. The care in how each one is presented is the same.
